Eastwood

A vibrant community in the heart of Edmonton

Welcome to Eastwood, a vibrant community conveniently located close to Edmonton's downtown core and its picturesque river valley.

A historic and beautiful neighbourhood with mature elm and ash trees adding to the greenery of our walkable residential streets, Eastwood is full of character and home to some of Edmonton's best local dining and festival experiences.

Our neighbourhood also has several parks and schools, making it ideal for families. And Eastwood's central location makes it easy to connect to major roads and public transit, including LRT.

Our community league is guided by volunteers who live and work in the neighbourhood. Our community is your community! Attend one of our events, become a member or volunteer with us - we'd love to get to know you.

We acknowledge that the land on which we are located is Treaty 6 territory and

a traditional meeting ground and home for many Indigenous peoples, including Cree, Saulteaux, Niitsitapi, Métis and Nakota Sioux Peoples.

About Eastwood and

Eastwood Community League

Development in Eastwood began in 1906, making it one of Edmonton's oldest neighbourhoods. After WWII, as Edmonton became an important centre of industry, commerce, and a gateway to the North, Eastwood and adjacent neighbourhoods grew rapidly and contained a healthy mix of residential and commercial development.

As the city initially expanded suburban development, it was common for families to leave core neighbourhoods like Eastwood and relocate to these new, modern locales. However, as the decades have passed, this trend has reversed. Many people are now seeking out our community because of its character, history, and central location.

Today, revitalization efforts and renewed investment from homeowners and commercial stakeholders have reinvigorated this historical community. Eastwood is being rediscovered by Edmontonians as a fantastic place to live and grow a family!

Eastwood Community League was established in 1923, and has a long history of community-building and engagement. Our goal is to build a sense of community among Eastwood neighbours, and to build support for our local businesses. So, join us at one of our events, eat at a local restaurant, or invite your neighbour over for a barbeque.

After all, this is Eastwood. It's your neighbourhood, and it's a great place to live!
